Amplitude Experiment Results Notifier

What it does

Automatically monitors your Amplitude A/B tests and experiments, then notifies your product team via Slack or email when an experiment reaches statistical significance so you can make data-driven decisions quickly.

Why I recommend it

Experiments that run too long waste opportunity cost. Experiments that end too early give you false conclusions. Automatic significance detection ensures you act on results at exactly the right time – when you have enough data to be confident.

Expected benefits

  • Faster product iteration cycles
  • More confident decision-making
  • No time wasted checking experiment dashboards
  • Reduced risk of premature conclusions

How it works

Amplitude experiment running -> automation checks daily for statistical significance (p-value < 0.05) -> when reached -> send notification with winning variant, confidence level, and recommendation.

Quick start

Set up manual weekly reviews of active experiments in Amplitude. Once you’re comfortable with the process, automate daily checks and alerts for your most critical experiments.

Level-up version

Include experiment context in the notification (hypothesis, expected impact, related product area), suggest next steps (ship winner, run follow-up test, or revert), and create automatic tickets in Linear/Jira to implement winning variants.

Tools you can use

Analytics: Amplitude

Automation: Zapier, Make, custom scripts

Alerts: Slack, Email, Teams

Project management: Linear, Jira, Asana

Also works with

Analytics platforms: Optimizely, VWO, Google Optimize, Statsig

Experimentation: LaunchDarkly, Split.io for feature flag experiments

Technical implementation solution

  • No-code: Limited – requires custom script to check Amplitude API -> calculate if statistically significant -> send Slack webhook when criteria met.
  • API-based: Daily cron job -> query Amplitude Experiment API -> calculate p-value and confidence intervals -> if significant, post to Slack with experiment details and recommendation.

Where it gets tricky

Correctly calculating statistical significance (avoiding multiple testing problems), deciding on the right confidence threshold for your business, and handling experiments with multiple variants or multiple success metrics.
