Google Docs Template Populater from Form

What it does

Automatically populates Google Docs templates with Typeform response data, creating customized documents (contracts, proposals, reports) instantly upon form submission without manual copying.

Why I recommend it

Manual document creation from form data wastes hours and introduces errors. Automation generates perfect documents instantly, improving speed and accuracy while freeing team for higher-value work.

Expected benefits

  • 95% faster document creation
  • Zero transcription errors
  • Professional, consistent documents
  • Better customer experience

How it works

Typeform submitted -> extract response data (name, company, selections, dates) -> copy Google Docs template -> replace placeholders with form data ({{name}}, {{company}}, {{product}}) -> save customized document -> share with submitter or internal team -> optionally send for signature.

Quick start

Create Google Doc template with placeholders for variable data. Manually fill one template from form submission. Note which fields map where. Then automate the data population using document merge tools.

Level-up version

Conditional content (include sections based on form selections). Generate multiple document types from one form. Auto-send to DocuSign for signature. Create both PDF and editable versions. Track document status. Include dynamic pricing tables.

Tools you can use

Forms: Typeform, Google Forms, JotForm

Documents: Google Docs, Microsoft Word

Automation: Zapier, Make, n8n

Document generation: WebMerge, Formstack Documents, Conga

Signatures: DocuSign, PandaDoc, HelloSign

Also works with

Templates: Google Slides, Sheets for other document types

Storage: Google Drive, Dropbox for organization

CRM: GoHighLevel, Salesforce to store completed docs

Technical implementation solution

  • No-code: Typeform submission -> Zapier Document Merge or WebMerge -> populate Google Docs template from responses -> save to Drive -> email link to submitter.
  • API-based: Typeform webhook -> extract responses -> Google Docs API copy template -> replace all placeholders via API -> format document -> convert to PDF if needed -> email with attachment -> log to CRM.

Where it gets tricky

Handling complex document formatting, managing conditional content logic, ensuring placeholder replacement doesn’t break formatting, and maintaining templates as requirements change.
