What it does
Automatically creates ClickUp fulfilment tasks when Shopify orders are placed, ensuring every order is tracked, assigned, and fulfilled without manual task creation.
Why I recommend it
Manual order tracking leads to missed shipments and unhappy customers. Automation ensures every order becomes a trackable task, improving fulfilment speed and customer satisfaction.
Expected benefits
- 100% order tracking
- Faster fulfilment times
- Zero missed orders
- Better team coordination
How it works
Shopify order placed -> extract order details (customer, items, shipping address, priority) -> create ClickUp task in fulfilment board with order info -> assign based on product type or round-robin -> set due date based on shipping method -> attach order summary -> track from packing through shipping.
Quick start
For next week’s orders, manually create Click Up tasks for each. Note what order details you include. Once you have a good template, automate task creation from Shopify orders.
Level-up version
Priority assignment based on shipping method (expedited orders get higher priority). Auto-assign based on product expertise. Include inventory check in task. Update Shopify when task completed. Track fulfilment time metrics. Alert on overdue tasks.
Tools you can use
E-commerce: Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce
Project management: ClickUp, Asana, Monday.com
Automation: Zapier, Make, n8n
Shipping: ShipStation, Shippo for tracking
Inventory: Shopify inventory, SkuVault
Also works with
Platforms: Etsy, Amazon for multi-channel
PM tools: Trello, Jira, Basecamp
Fulfilment: ShipBob, Fulfilment by Amazon
Technical implementation solution
- No-code: Shopify order webhook -> Zapier creates ClickUp task with order details (customer name, items, address) -> assigns to fulfilment team -> sets due date.
- API-based: Shopify webhook on order creation -> extract order data -> ClickUp API create task with custom fields (order number, SKUs, shipping method) -> assign based on rules -> track status changes -> update Shopify fulfilment status via API.
Where it gets tricky
Handling multi-item orders with different fulfilment locations, managing pre-orders vs in-stock items, coordinating between multiple fulfilment team members, and syncing task status back to Shopify.
